I was happy to get a call from Robin Fairfull-Smith yesterday because he tells me that he may have to go to Moshi to teach for one of the weeks of the kilema caravan. That means that I could be needed for one week in kilema. I was hoping to get back if even just for a visit. This would be a great extension to the ukewere trip. I was particularly hoping to follow up on the patients with breast cancer and the thyroidectomies we did in october. Norma-Lynn (pharmacist from Oct kilema mission) tells me that tamoxifen and L-Thyroxine are both on the pharmacy list for the next mission. Rainer Tan (the Cida intern) is visiting Ukewere this week and will get back to me as to what might be possible on the Island. I am excited to be there from the beginning although I am not expecting to be able to do the same types of surgery there. I am going as always with an open mind and hope that at least I can get things arranged for any future caravans.
